As a manager, you're engaging with individuals, not just your team, but as well across the organization. Enabling people to make choices is one of the things that is not natural to most of us. Because you choose, you're the manager, or the management is choosing from the top, and then it gets cascaded into the organization.
But as more you involve the team members in enabling them to choose what tasks they're doing, what projects they're doing, what goals they're fulfilling. As more engaged they are, as more they are supporting the organization to reach the goals. If they come up with an idea, what I have seen in the past is they fight for it. They get it done, they do it even if it is hard and that's what you want. Engaged people in your team.
