This Is Why I Do Not Post Pictures of My Daughter
In today’s episode of The Daily Hint with Jens Heitland, we dive into a crucial topic: the fine line between personal and professional content on LinkedIn. Social media platforms are powerful tools for networking and showcasing your expertise, but are you using them strategically?
Lately, some executives are leveraging family photos to capture attention and rack up likes. While this might create momentary engagement, does it contribute to positioning you as a thought leader in your field or delivering tangible business results?
Here’s the reality: posting personal content, like pictures of your children, may bring warmth to your feed, but it can dilute the professional narrative you’re trying to build. As a professional, your goal should be to align your posts with your expertise and industry leadership. For me, this means avoiding content that detracts from my business objectives, even if it might generate quick likes.
Instead, I focus on creating value-driven posts that resonate with my audience in meaningful ways—topics that underscore my authority and knowledge in leadership, innovation, and career development.
This episode challenges you to rethink how you approach your content strategy. Are you building the credibility needed to stand out in your field, or are you simply chasing social media validation? Tune in to hear more and refine your strategy for long-term professional success.

Let's be clear with this. Posting photos of our kids is not getting us new clients. What I see on LinkedIn right now is that some executives are posting more and more photos of their families to drag attention to them and getting a lot of likes. No doubt about that. But does it help to establish you as the thought leader in your industry?
and deliver business results to your company. I believe it doesn't. I get it. If I would be doing videos with my sweet seven year old daughter, a lot of people would like this because of her has nothing to do with the business and my thought leadership topics. That's why I have decided for myself, I'm not going to post anything like this.
I want to be seen as the thought leader in the industry for this topic and not for cute photos.
