Every CEO Should Be Visible as a Human

The Daily Hint with Jens Heitland

Being a CEO is more than just holding a title—it's about leading people. Leadership isn’t only about decision-making and delivering results. It’s about presence, authenticity, and visibility. Yet, many CEOs shy away from the very thing that can elevate their impact: showing up as a human.

Why Visibility Matters More Than Ever

The role of a CEO has evolved. While strategy, operations, and financial performance remain critical, so does the ability to connect. The modern workforce and stakeholders expect leaders to be more than just corporate figures—they expect authenticity, engagement, and accessibility.

But many CEOs struggle with this. Whether it's discomfort with video content, reluctance to share personal insights, or a belief that "running a company" is the sole focus, they miss a key opportunity. In 2025 and beyond, CEOs who embrace visibility will stand out, drive deeper connections, and strengthen their organization's credibility.

Stepping Up as a Leader

Leadership today is about delivering results AND showing up. Employees and shareholders look to the CEO for direction, but also for inspiration. People don’t just follow strategies; they follow leaders. If you’re in a leadership position, you’ve signed up for more than board meetings and quarterly reports—you’ve signed up to be seen.

How CEOs Can Embrace Visibility

  1. Acknowledge Your Influence – You are an asset not just because of your title, but because of who you are. Your insights and experiences matter.

  2. Use Video & Digital Channels – Whether it’s sharing perspectives on LinkedIn, participating in podcasts, or making short-form content, visibility is non-negotiable.

  3. Embrace Authenticity – Perfection isn’t required. Being genuine, real, and relatable builds trust with both employees and external audiences.

  4. Make It a Habit – Consistency matters. A one-time post won’t transform your leadership presence, but an ongoing effort will.

Final Thought: Visibility is Leadership

Great CEOs don’t just run companies—they shape conversations, inspire action, and build connections. If you’re leading a business today, one question remains: Are you visible as a human, or are you just a title?

It’s time to step up.

You are an asset for the organization because you're the CEO. Obviously! But you are so important as a unique human being to your company that's what a lot of CEOs that I meet are not aware of  or not consciously using at least. Every CEO has the possibility stepping up and being more visible. I know a lot of you don't like this doing videos like I do right now is a hustle, it's something you don't want to do because it's not running a company. But I believe you signed up for the challenge of driving your organization to the next level delivering results to the shareholders and to your employees and that's your responsibility. That also means in 2025 and beyond  you need to be a human and you need to be more visible than ever before.
