Leaders Are Readers
In a world of rapid change, the best leaders don’t just lead—they learn. Reading is more than just a habit; it’s a tool for refining ideas, improving communication, and enhancing leadership effectiveness. In this episode of The Daily Hint, we explore why reading should be a core practice for leaders in 2025 and beyond.
One powerful concept is treating reading as a way to develop not just knowledge, but communication skills. CEOs and executives who take the time to simplify what they’ve learned into clear, actionable insights sharpen their ability to lead. A great way to do this? Recording short videos summarizing key takeaways from books they’ve read.
This practice does two things:
1. It helps leaders remember and apply what they’ve learned.
2. It trains them to distill complex ideas into simple, impactful messages—an essential leadership skill.
Sharing book insights isn’t just about education; it’s about building a personal brand. Thoughtful, well-communicated ideas position leaders as forward-thinkers and trusted voices in their industry.
So, if you’re leading a team or aspiring to, make reading a priority. And don’t just keep insights to yourself—share, simplify, and lead by example.

A book club in 2025 might seem silly, but hear me out. We as leaders of organizations should be all reading a book at least every two weeks. And that can be whatever book. And we should be sharing what we are learning from the books that we are consuming with other people. So a book club in the end is.
Us sharing about what we have learned from a book towards others. When I talk to CEOs and we talk about their personal brand, one of the things I recommend them to do is recording themselves in the video like this, where they explain what they have learned about the book that they recently read. And that helps them.
One thing is to remember what they read about, but the other thing is simplifying complex situations into simple frameworks that they can use. That other people can understand. And that's a powerful metaphor for CEOs to learn communicating, but as well in distilling [00:01:00] information to the essence of what is important to the other person to understand.
Personal branding makes the difference and it starts with yourself.
