Why I'm Walking 24 Hours in Amsterdam, Budapest, and New York

Many of people asked why I’ve decided to take on the challenge of walking 24 hours straight in Amsterdam, Budapest, and New York. The short answer is: I’m doing it for my daughter and the planet.

Help me to reach my donation goal and donate.

A Personal Mission for My Daughter

As a father, I want my daughter to inherit a world where tackling the climate crisis is not just possible but actively pursued. She’s only six years old, and it’s crucial for her to see that we can make a difference. By undertaking this 24-hour walking challenge, I hope to set an example for her, showing that we can contribute to meaningful change through our actions.

Supporting Justdiggit: Regreening Africa

One of the primary reasons behind my walk is to raise awareness and gather donations for Justdiggit, an NGO dedicated to regreening Africa. Justdiggit works with communities of farmers to help them learn techniques for water retention in the soil, which in turn helps to regreen deserts. It’s an incredibly impactful cause, and all the funds we raise through this initiative will go towards supporting their efforts.

Creating Awareness and Building Communities

This walk is not just about fundraising; it’s about raising awareness. By walking for 24 hours in three major cities, I aim to highlight the urgent need for sustainable practices and the importance of community in combating climate change. Each step I take is a step towards a more sustainable future, and I hope to inspire others to join me in this mission.

Involving My Daughter in the Journey

My daughter has been a part of this journey from the beginning. She often joins me on my training walks as my pacer, experiencing firsthand what it means to commit to a cause. She’ll be with me at the finish line in Amsterdam, and perhaps even at the starting point, seeing the culmination of our efforts and understanding the importance of putting oneself out there for a greater good.

Why I’m Committed

Creating these videos, training rigorously, and funding my trips to Budapest and New York out of my own pocket are all part of my commitment to this cause. I want to show that individual efforts, no matter how small they may seem, can collectively make a significant impact. By sharing my journey, I hope to encourage others to take action and support causes they believe in.
