What Happens When Leaders Help Too Much
As leaders, our instinct is to help our teams succeed. We dive into the details, provide solutions, and support them every step of the way. But what if helping too much is holding them back?
In this episode of The Daily Hint, we explore the unintended consequences of overhelping. While it comes from a place of care, excessive involvement can hinder personal and professional growth. When team members don’t face challenges or experience failures, they miss the opportunity to develop problem-solving skills and resilience.
The key takeaway? Great leadership involves stepping back. Let your team navigate challenges while you provide guidance from a distance. It’s not about abandoning them but fostering their independence and capacity to thrive without constant intervention.
Tune in to learn how to balance guidance with space, empower your team, and foster a culture of growth. A must-listen for anyone committed to building high-performing, self-sufficient teams.

When you're a leader you help, but don't help too much. Sometimes we as leaders are helping too much. We're going into the nitty gritty details and pamper the other people to be successful because we believe in them. But that doesn't help because when we help team members too much, they're not going to succeed when you're not helping them anymore.
They're not doing the steps that are required for them to grow and for them to learn. So for us as leaders, sometimes it's good to step back and let them fail even so that they learn. And that means we step back, have a look what's happening and guide them a little bit, but not too much. We as leaders have a responsibility to grow people and that only works if we let them fail.
