Unleashing the Stone Face

Welcome to another episode of The Daily Hint with Jens Heitland. In this episode, titled "Unleashing the Stone Face," we explore a common yet perplexing experience: interacting with someone who remains expressionless during a conversation.

Have you ever been in a situation where the person you're speaking to seems completely unresponsive, almost as if they're not even present? It's a disconcerting feeling, making you wonder if they’re bored, uninterested, or if you've done something wrong.

Today, we delve into strategies for dealing with these situations. The first step is self-awareness. Consider how others might perceive your reactions. Reflect on your own expressions by looking in the mirror. If you find yourself frequently encountering "stone faces," it might be time to address it directly. Politely ask the person if they’d like some feedback. If they’re open to it, share your observations. This approach not only opens the door to better communication but also helps break down barriers that these unresponsive expressions create.

The key takeaway from this episode is clear: don’t let a stone face deter you. Engage, communicate, and be proactive in seeking feedback. And remember, don’t be a stone face yourself if you don’t want to be perceived that way.

Join us for this insightful 60-second tip that can transform your leadership and communication skills. Tune in daily to The Daily Hint with Jens Heitland for more bite-sized advice on leadership, innovation, and self-discovery.

Transcript:

Have you ever been in a situation where you're looking someone into the face and you interact with someone and  the person is

someone who is not moving at all someone who is not reacting to what you're saying and then you're sitting there  like.

Is this person sleeping? Is there something going on?

Do I do something wrong?  I have had a couple of things like this and it's kind of a little bit freaky if you have a person like this So if you are a person that struggles with that try to  Think about how other people are reacting. Maybe have a look into the mirror. And if you experience this like I did in the past, let the other person know and ask them, hey, would you be interested in getting some feedback?

And if they say yes, tell them. Because maybe they don't know.  Don't let a stone face be a stone face. And if they want to be a stone face, that's fine. But at least let people know and don't be a stone face yourself if you don't want to.
