This is the problem of managers that don't coach

In leadership, one of the most overlooked issues is the failure of managers to adopt a coaching mindset. In this episode of The Daily Hint, we delve into the problems that arise when managers opt for control over coaching, and the impact this has on team dynamics, trust, and overall performance.

When managers don’t coach, their team members often struggle to trust them. A lack of trust stems from a predictable cycle of micromanagement, where employees’ ideas are routinely overridden, and their decisions are frequently corrected. This creates a stifling environment where creativity and initiative are suppressed, and employees are left feeling undervalued and demotivated.

On the other hand, leaders who embrace a coaching approach can drastically change the dynamic within their teams. Coaching leaders focus on empowering their team members, encouraging them to take ownership of their roles, and supporting their professional growth. This shift not only fosters trust but also increases job satisfaction and loyalty among employees.

The takeaway is clear: by stepping up as a coaching leader, you can transform not only your team’s performance but also your own leadership journey. Trust, respect, and professional development become the norm, leading to a more engaged and productive team.

In this episode, we unpack these insights and provide actionable advice on how you can transition from micromanagement to a coaching leadership style. Tune in to learn how making this shift can benefit both you and your team.

The problem with managers that don't coach is that nobody of the team members really trusts them.

Because people know they're going to micromanage. People know that they anyhow step over whatever idea you come up with.

People know whatever you decide, they will still correct it because they know better.

And they will let you feel that they know better.

Be a coaching leader and you will change the game. If you are stepping up and being a coaching leader, you will change this because people will start to trust you. People will start to like you and people will start to promote you.

We all have it in our hands.
