Step Down If You Do Not Lead

In the latest episode of The Daily Hint with Jens Heitland, we explore a hard truth facing modern leaders: if you’re not empowering your team, you’re not leading— and that means you may not have a place in tomorrow’s workforce.

As AI takes on more managerial tasks like delegation, decision-making, and operations, the role of human leaders is shifting. Leaders who rely on micromanagement and control will find themselves outpaced by AI’s efficiency. But those who focus on empowering their teams will thrive.

Empowerment is about trust, autonomy, and giving your team members the freedom to grow and innovate. It’s no longer enough to direct or micromanage; effective leadership today is about enabling others to step up and succeed on their own. Without this crucial skill, AI will soon replace the traditional manager’s role altogether.

So, if you’re not empowering, you’re not leading—and it’s time to either step up or step aside.

Tune in to this episode to learn more about why empowerment is the future of leadership and how you can adapt to stay relevant in an AI-enhanced world.

If you don't want to empower as a leader, you have to step down because you suck as a manager. I know this sounds maybe bad and that's the truth in 2024 and beyond where artificial intelligence will take over the manager position sooner or later. The delegation of details and operating things, taking decisions and enhancing decisions, and giving us capabilities we have never had.

If you are a good leader, you empower, and if you can't empower, you will not be needed. And if you can't empower today without all the artificial intelligence support, you suck too, because your team members are demotivated because you're delegating your micromanaging, you are pushing them into a direction rather than empowering.

If you don't empower, you're not a leader. And that means you're not needed in an organization anymore. That's my personal opinion.
